Visitors/Bussing/Parent Pickup & Dropoff

Visitors

An open-door policy is extended to parents during regular school hours. Parents and any other visitors must report to the office. Parents or any other visitors are required to sign in and sign out when entering and exiting the building and a visitor's pass will be issued. Parents must make arrangements with teachers before visiting their classrooms. All other visitors shall report to the Principal's Office. Student visitors are not permitted at South Side School. Illinois School Code 8:30

Visitors are required by state law to report to the office whenever they enter a school building. Please make sure you stop at the office to sign in and sign out when entering and leaving the building and wear a visitor badge for the safety of the students. Thank you!

Bussing

After completion of online registration, any bus changes should be submitted via email to Kristin Harvey, Transportation Director, at [email protected], no later than July 31, 2024, to ensure bussing on the first day of school. You will receive a letter from the transportation director with your bussing information in August before school starts.

School bus riders, while in transit, are under the jurisdiction of the school bus driver. The bus driver must devote 100% of his/her attention to driving the bus and therefore should not be distracted by the improper conduct of students riding the bus. The bus misconduct point system ensures that students conform to the transportation and school rules and policies. The Code of Conduct and Misconduct Point System can be found in the Student Handbook.

Parent Pickup & Dropoff

South Side School is a busy place at the end of the day. We created a map for new guardians to help demonstrate the Parent Pickup procedures.
South Side Walkers

Walkers who live South of Wabash will be dismissed out of the EAST exits (along 5th Street). Those who live
North of Wabash will assemble near the east exit and walk AS A GROUP to Wabash where a crossing guard
will cross them to the North.

Buses ONLY will unload and load on Douglas Street.
